MicroCool Northpole XE Whisper

Microcool jumped onto the scene back in 2003 with their Northpole chipset cooler.  Today they are back with a new and improved chipset cooler, the Northpole XE Whisper.  This time around, Microcool has fine-tuned the XE and made it compatible with more motherboards.  Almost all of today's motherboards have some kind of cooling on the chipset.  It's almost a necessity and for enthusiasts who love to overclock, it is a necessity.  Pushing your front side bus to the limits really requires good cooling on the chipset.  Let's see what kind of gains, if any, the Northpole XE gives me over the stock heatsink.

Features

  • Modular and compact design

  • Active cooling for CPU and Northbridge

  • Noise well below 18dB

  • Matchless noise/computing ratio

  • Superior construction materials

Contents and Packaging

The Northpole XE was very nicely packaged.  Nothing is going to move around in here.

Everything you need to get started is included.  What you get is the; NorthPole cooler, 3 pairs of clips, 3 pairs of attachment screws, Washers, springs and attachment nuts, Allen wrench, rubber pad,  Thermo-conductive paste, and Assembly instructions.  With the clips and attachment screws you should be able to attach this cooler to almost any motherboard.  If you are unsure if it will attach to your board, give Microcool a shout and they will tell you.
