The Black Icemat
Ahhhh, gaming... Sometimes you just can't get enough of it. On occasion you
sometimes can't get enough gaming products that appeal to your own style. More
specifically, even good mouse pads get old. Sure you could always just grab a $3
cheapie from your local computer shop, and some gamers are ok with that, but on
a personal level, that just won't do it for me. Just so you have an idea, I have
a game pad, n50 speedpad, and a Logitech MX700 mouse just so I can have that
extra edge I need for that advantage while playing my games. Of course not all
games are created equal, but now that I have your attention on how many
variables you can possibly have whether you're aiming, shooting, walking, or
running through your game of choice, there's just nothing like having something
unique that gives you THE gaming advantage. This I believe is the philosophy
that goes into designing a better mouse pad such as what we have here today, the
ICEMAT!
The Product...
The Icemat is actually either ceramic or glass, I'm not sure which, but I can
say that it is durable enough that it doesn't break when you accidentally drop it,
although I didn't try and push the issue, because the Icemat, although
affordable is still a good chunk of change for a mouse pad, er mouse mat... More
info is available at www.icemat.com.

Looking into the ClubOC review archives and you'll notice we reviewed the
X-Pad, which is quite similar to the Icemat in that you need to apply the
Teflon-like tape to the back of your mouse. Icemat has given us quite a bit to
play with, so I just cut five little squares and applied it to the bottom of my
mouse...

The finished product looks outstanding, and it also does the same in
function. Its amazing how simply little things like a solid pad can do wonder
for your response time in games. The Icemat is a fine product, and if it weren't
for a few quirks, like the noise it makes when you drag your mouse over it, and
that it sits a little above your desk, oh yeah, and the price, it would be a
perfect 10. The two previously mentioned quirks are pretty much embedded into
the whole idea of using a solid surface material anyways, so its a definite must
have for those out there reading... Now if Icemat can just get a few more
resellers to carry these things...
