Notebooks are getting extremely
complex and powerful, so much that I would say they are probably one
year behind in terms of speed and performance in comparison to a desktop
computer. One of the benefits of a notebook is its portability, and when
it comes to the accessories that you can buy for your own portable
computer, those items should be portable as well. That can be quite the
challenge though because you can quite easily outfit your own notebook
with so many items that its quickly loses the advantage of being
portable. That is just one of many concerns when it comes to making your
notebook more user friendly, until now with the Kingwin Ultra-Cool. The
Ultra-Cool not only keeps your notebook cool, but it gives you the kind
of features that would take up the surface area of a computer table.

Features

The retail box is very thin and stackable.
This is important for us packrats out there. ;)

The retail box contains a
AC adapter for power, some instructions, and an included USB cable. My
first impression of this was why the AC adapter, but then I started
thinking of all the power problems you would get by using the notebooks
power and it lead me to believe that Kingwin took some careful design
into the Ultra-Cool.

Your notebook is cooled by these ventilation gills
that are located on the top of the Ultra-Cool.

The main air circulates through these ports on hte
side.

Card reader compatibility won't be a concern with the
Ultra-Cool with 11 different cards supported.

More air is circulated through the same area that hold
the on-off switch for the fans and the RPM controller.

The bottom of the Ultra-Cool features some sticky pads
so as to not scratch fragile surfaces.

Three extra USB ports will be nice to have.

The ClubOC 2200Mhz Celery sits pretty on the
ultra-Cool.
Final Thoughts
The Ultra-Cool is a must for
those of you out there that get really tired of their notebook computers
burning a hole in your favorite surface or let alone your own jeans.
Having some experience working in a computer store I can't possibly let
you know how many people complain about how hot their notebook computers
can get. With the Ultra-Cool you not only get excellent cooling, but you
also get some extras like 11 card reader support and a few more USB
ports. The only drawback I can really think of with the Ultra-Cool is
that you can't mount it to your notebook, although some double-sided can
fix that quite easily. The Ultra-Cool is also very lightweight and
weighs about the same as a motherboard if not a tad lighter. The fans
even at the highest RPM speed are barely audible, and they actually
churn some pretty good air. I like the circulation ports most of all.
Using a notebook for a long period of time can generate some
perspiration, but with the Kingwin Ultra-Cool a simple brush along the
air ports makes it a bit more comfortable to continue with your tasks at
hand. We recommend the Ultra-Cool!
