DVD burners have become so common in the past year that prices are actually appealing. Now when you're ready to upgrade that CD Burner, you really need to consider going with a DVD burner instead. After all, the price is right and they do everything that your old CD Burner once did, and more! Plextor, the undisputed leader in burner technology, just sent over one of their latest DVD burners that is build to please; the PX-708UF. This bad boy represents all the latest in burning technology. 8X DVD+R, 4X DVD+RW, 4X DVD-R, 2X DVD-RW, 12X DVD-ROM, 40X CD-R, 24X CD-RW, and 40X CD-ROM. As you can see, the PX-708UF does it all...and it's portable!

In the past we have always ranted and raved about Plextor "professional quality". So what exactly does "professional quality" mean? To me, quality means choosing the best parts available, using the best staff and machinery to assemble the product, and the end product is brutally tested for durability and a lifetime of use. Quality is not only something you can see in a product, but feel as well. It's opening a package for the first time and saying "Wow! This baby is awesome!". You may spend slightly more for a quality product, but you'll always walk away from the purchase with the feeling you made the right decision. A quality product is also knowing that you really own the best of the best because the manufacturer went that extra mile to make the best product possible. This is a lot to live up to, but this is what Plextor is all about. Let's take a look at the Plextor PX-708UF and see if it lives up to our expectations!

Right out of the box I was impressed with the PX-708UF. The external drive is housed in a sleek metal case that is finished in anodized silver. Very pretty... You also have the choice in 12 different colored face plates!

In the box you'll find everything you need. Roxio Easy CD Creator 6, Direct CD, Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator, PhotoSuite 5 SE, Dantz Retrospect Backup Software, and Roxio Toast 5 Lite for you Mac users. Yep, this drive even supports the Mac. Besides the software there are all the cables you need for power, USB 2.0 and Firewire. The box even contains a blank DVD and a vertical mount for the drive.
